Filming lasted 6 hours, including recording the voice over. The video was filmed on the Canon T2i camera in 1080p HD, with 35mm and 80mm Nikon prime lenses. An EZFX Jib was used for the shot of Ollie walking barefoot.  Editing was done on a PC using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5.  Music was from SmartSound royalty-free music libraries.

 Standing Sun Productions Announces “In His Steps” Adaptation

 Web series sequel to short film “Ragged Edge” now in development.

 COLORADO — October 8, 2011 — Today, Standing Sun Productions announces that development has begun on a web series based on the book In His Steps by Charles Sheldon.  Standing Sun owner Zack Lawrence will serve as the director/producer, and is penning the series.

In His Steps, originally written by Charles M. Sheldon in 1896, is the origin of the phrase “What would Jesus do,” and is the ninth-best selling book of all time.  It chronicles the story of members of the First Church of Raymond as they make a pledge to do nothing for a year without first asking “What would Jesus do?”

“Even though the book was written over a hundred years ago, we’re still dealing with some of the major problems they were back in Sheldon’s day,” Lawrence said.  “Our adaptation will be set in the modern day, focusing on some of the issues we as Christians now face as we strive to follow Christ.”

Standing Sun Productions has already made one attempt at adapting the story.  February of 2011 saw the release of the short film Ragged Edge (www.standingsun.com/raggededge), a modern-day prequel to In His Steps that tells the story of Jack Manning, the homeless man that sets the plot in motion in the book.  “We’ve been so excited at how well the movie’s been received,” Lawrence said.  “It asks some tough questions and the people we’ve talked to have really been affected by it.”  To date, the film has been screened at four film festivals across the country, and was nominated for best cinematography at the 2011 Experience Studios Short Film Contest.

“Our goal with In His Steps: The Series is three-fold,” Lawrence explained.  “First is to finish the story we started in Ragged Edge.  Second is to make an adaptation that finally does the story justice.  Third, and most important, is to expose the failings of the modern American church and serve as a rallying cry to return to the Biblical form of Christianity.”

In His Steps: The Series will be released as a 20 – 30 episode web series, with episodes averaging 7 to 9 minutes in length.  Six episodes have been written so far.  Lawrence explained, “There is so much meat to this story that a 90-minute film can’t truly do it justice.  And with the media culture battle moving away from the theater to the internet, I believe a web series is the way to go.”
